Almaco: A Project of Excellence on board Utopia OTS
ALMACO Group has recently successfully completed an ambitious project aboard the new Utopia of the Seas, the latest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, departing from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida.
Delivered in 2024 at the renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, the vessel represents a blend of innovation and comfort. ALMACO’s contribution was fundamental in the supply and installation of the provisions storage and refrigeration machinery, a key element to ensure a flawless experience on board.

The ALMACO-designed project for Utopia of the Seas involved an area of approximately 3,000 m² dedicated to the storage of food and beverages. The supplies included refrigerated rooms, freezers, and chilled environments, all designed according to the highest hygiene and quality standards, essential to meet the strict criteria imposed by the USPH (United States Public Health). The storage areas are a vital component for the daily operation of the ship, ensuring a constant supply of fresh products for guests and crew. ALMACO fully respected the timeline, completing the work in time for the first sea trial, during which the storerooms were used to preserve food supplies for the technical and onboard staff.
However, the company’s contribution went beyond outfitting the storage spaces: ALMACO also handled the entire refrigeration system, taking care of engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning. The system included cooling units, air handlers, piping, control systems, and SCADA systems, all designed to ensure optimal performance.
The project’s success was made possible by the synergy between ALMACO Group, Chantiers de l’Atlantique, and Royal Caribbean, who worked closely together to achieve excellent results. Vincent Querard, project management lead, highlighted how the final outcome is the result of dedication and cooperation among all parties involved, emphasizing the importance of completing the entire storage area before the sea trial.

Samuel Teyssier, project manager, also emphasized the quality of the work done, attributing the successful delivery of the refrigeration system to careful planning and effective collaboration between the teams. He expressed pride in the project’s outcome, thanking everyone who contributed to its success.
With Utopia of the Seas ready to sail the Caribbean waters, ALMACO Group renews its commitment to excellence and innovation, wishing Royal Caribbean the best for this new adventure. The project stands as a concrete example of how technical expertise, precision, and teamwork can generate extraordinary results. ALMACO looks forward with enthusiasm to future collaborations with Royal Caribbean and Chantiers de l’Atlantique for new challenges across the world’s seas.
