New Details Revealed About American Encore

During a press conference at Seatrade in Miami, Florida, American Cruise Lines revealed new details about American Encore, the world’s most elegant and innovative riverboat, set to sail the Columbia and Snake Rivers starting May 5, 2026.

American Encore is the latest addition to the company’s revolutionary series of modern riverboats, which has raised global standards for river cruising. It will also be the first riverboat in history to be christened in the state of Idaho. The christening ceremony will take place on May 12 at a new dock in Lewiston, Idaho, built specifically by American Cruise Lines to support the growing fleet and operations along the Columbia and Snake River system. The ship will later be joined by two sister ships: American Anthem in 2027 and American Grace in 2028; all three will offer cruises on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, the fastest-growing river region in the United States.

With five decks, American Encore will accommodate 180 passengers in fully private staterooms with balconies. At the heart of the ship will be a stunning four-story glass atrium, and the ship will introduce a new stateroom category, the extraordinary Signature Suite. Covering approximately 139 square meters (1,500 square feet), it will be the largest riverboat suite in the world, featuring a wrap-around balcony, spectacular views, separate living and sleeping areas, and a hotel-style bathroom with a soaking tub and heated floors. Onboard amenities include a grand main dining room, a casual café, multiple indoor and outdoor lounges, an upper deck lounge with walking track, a fitness center, complimentary laundry facilities, and elevators serving all passenger decks.

The company also plans to launch two more small cruise ships in 2026, American Maverick and American Ranger, followed by American Mariner and American Navigator in 2027. All four ships, each accommodating 130 passengers, are part of the Patriot Class, introduced in 2025 with American Patriot and American Pioneer. The series’ flagship, American Patriot, will begin sailing the Great Lakes cruises at the end of May 2026.

For decades, American Cruise Lines has remained the leader in U.S. river and small ship cruising, introducing over 80% of new cruise ships built in the United States in recent decades. The company stands out as a positive innovator in the industry, making river cruising possible across the entire United States, far beyond traditional rivers. It operates the world’s only 100% U.S.-flagged fleet of riverboats and small ships, capable of sailing rivers, coasts, lakes, bays, and inland waterways while visiting only U.S. ports. All of the company’s new ships, elegant and innovative, accommodate 90 to 180 passengers, offering the perfect balance of exclusive comfort and refined design.
