It is dedicated to a woman of same name, Dr. Sylvia Earle, a very talented marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer. As the first chief scientist of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this ship pays tribute to conservation efforts for protected marine areas and ocean wildlife. Built specifically for expeditions to the most remote places on earth, it’s equipped with the revolutionary Ulstein X-BOW, which allows the ship to cross oceans more comfortably and efficiently.
