Sun, Islands, and Fun

I chose the Carnival Sunshine for an 8-day Eastern Caribbean cruise departing from Norfolk, Virginia — and I couldn’t have made a better choice. The itinerary was well-balanced: after two relaxing sea days, we stopped in San Juan (Puerto Rico), Amber Cove (Dominican Republic), and Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos). Each port offered the perfect mix of beaches, culture, and tropical relaxation. Onboard, the Sunshine truly felt like an oasis of fun and comfort. I was especially impressed by the variety and quality of the dining options: from the Italian flavors at Cucina del Capitano to the fresh bites at BlueIguana Cantina, not to mention the always well-stocked buffet. My favorite spot to unwind was the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat, while for pure fun, there were shows, themed parties, live music, and the amazing WaterWorks waterpark. A vibrant but well-run ship, with a cheerful and attentive crew. Perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy Caribbean sunshine without giving up comfort.
