Silversea’s new ship Silver Moon launches May 2020

Cruising Journal brings you the best in cruising news – including the May launch of Silversea‘s new vessels, Silver Moon.

Silversea’s luxurious new ship Silver Moon, sister ship to the line’s flagship Silver Muse, is on course to celebrate her much anticipated inaugural voyage August 6, 2020. She’ll be the tenth ship to join Silversea’s existing fleet of  luxury small-ships. Second in the line’s Muse-class, she’s a fitting addition to its 6-star fleet, ahead of the later 2021 launch of  the third – Silver Dawn.

Ordered in 2018, Silver Moon was built alongside Silver Dawn at the world-renowned, Genoa-based Fincantieri shipyard. If you want the tech spec, Silver Moon is 596 length 213 m (699 feet), 27 m wide (89 feet), with a gross tonnage of 40,700.

Inaugural voyage

Silver Moon makes her cruising debut on August 6 – 20, 2020, sailing from Trieste to Rome.

She’ll stay in the Med and Adriatic until November 2020, sailing between, among other places, Rome, Barcelona, Trieste, Split, Athens, Lisbon, Venice and Corfu. In November 2020, she crosses the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale,  immersing guests in the joys of the Caribbean islands and South America’s Chilean fjords. She’ll then set off for a Grand South American Tour in 2021 (Jan 7 – March 17) visiting 37 destinations in 20 countries.

Luxury small-ship specialist Silversea has forged a formidable reputation for innovation in ocean-going, luxury hospitality.

Silversea Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio promises Silver Moon’s guests the same “ultra-luxury qualities” they currently enjoy on the line’s other 6-star ships, Silver Wind, Silver Cloud, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper, Silver Spirit and Silver Muse.

The new ship is equally as luxuriously-appointed as guests have come to expect from at-sea opulence experts Silversea. However, the line has managed to step things up a little on the new ship, extending capacity in main dining room Atlantide to 230 guests, and making room for up to 50 guests in its signature French restaurant, La Dame.

With guest capacity below 600 and crew at 411, guests can expect to enjoy an intimate, convivial atmosphere of casual elegance. Fans old and new of Silversea’s top-drawer high seas hospitality are already booking for Silver Moon’s 20-2021 season, keen to be among the first to voyage in this grand new vessel.

Despite her air of adult sophistication, Silver Moon welcomes guests of all ages, including children. There are kid’s play and activity areas, including poolside amenities they’ll love. If there are more than 12 children aboard, a trained activities coordinator will be on hand to keep them busy while at sea.

Apart from the joy of christening the pristine ship, guests can look forward to a champagne reception on boarding, and a superior pampering experience while sailing.

Accommodation

Silver Moon, like the rest of Silversea’s fleet, is an all-suite ship. Hence, there’s a huge choice for guests of varying budgets and tastes among the sea-facing, spacious suites. The most exclusive is the roomy and sumptuous Owner’s Suite. But guests can choose from Grand, Royal, Silver, Deluxe Veranda, Superior Veranda, Classic Veranda Panorama and Vista suites.

All suites are beautifully appointed – guests won’t be pushed for space. Plus, the pristine, modern décor and comfortable furnishings ensure guests will feel at home.

Each suite has an ensuite bar pre-stocked with guests’ favourite drinks and snacks.

Keeping in touch is easy, as there’s free WIFI throughout the ship.

Accessibility

Deck 4 features a limited number of Vista Suites that are wheelchair accessible, and the lifts between decks make it easy for those not so nimble to move around the ship.

All-suite Personal Butler Service

A Personal Butler Service comes with every suite. White-gloved butlers are trained to help guests get the best from their stay. They cater for all needs, from filling food and drink orders and booking activities, to helping unpack and arranging for laundry to be done. If you prefer to do your own, there’s a launderette aboard, too.

“Big Ship” Amenities

Silver Moon has 11 passenger decks (4 through 11), each with its characteristic, luxury amenities designed to bring guests maximum enjoyment while at sea.

Dining & Drinking

Guests won’t go thirsty – Silversea packages include complimentary wines, spirits, bottled water, fruit juice and soft drinks as standard.

Deck 4 is also home to Kaiseki, a sophisticated restaurant serving authentic Japanese cuisine. Silversea’s signature French restaurant La Dame, featuring open-air dining, is on deck 8. It’s extra touch of luxury is bestowed by decorative glass wall panels produced by iconic French glass specialists, Lalique.

Deck 10 is devoted to poolside activities and relaxation. There’s plenty of space for lounging around the huge pool, with freshly grilled food cooked poolside barbeque-style. Guests can also opt to visit the Pool Bar or Pool Grill for a range of poolside refreshments. A whirlpool area is located adjacent to the pool area.
