Msc Grandiosa: 7 nights inthe Mediterranean

We took MSC Grandiosa for her New Years cruise 2019/2020 and we sailed her regular Mediterranean run of 7 nights. Our →→Review on Cruising Journal
We choose to embark at Genoa. It was our first time at this port and we were a little bit concerned because of the flights to Genoa, they were not easy to find so we were a little bit worried.
But nothing to worry about. When we arrived at the pier we were able to go through check in and controls in fifteen minutes. Boarding Msc Grandiosa was a joy, no hasstle at the port and was very quick.
This was not our first trip on Grandiosa so we knew all the spots already but the first thing we did was going to the buffet for lunch. We travelled as a family of three with a little girl of four years old. For a little child like our daughter is there lots to do on board from slides, pools, jacuzzis, lego land and so on.
After lunch we went to check up on our suite, we booked an Aurea Duplex Suite on deck nine. Suite was amazing, we had two bathrooms, one with shower and the other with tub which was upstairs. There was plenty of storage and was well designed. Really comfortable with a green touch. We also had a jacuzzi on our balcony which we used frequently during our trip.
When you book an Aurea experience you are able to dine in your own restaurant which is nice and cosy with a great atmosphere.
First port of call was Civitavecchia and we had a tour booked through our friends of LimousinRome. A small but great company for your tours and transfers. We went to some great places in Rome which we had never seen before. Back on the ship for a quick jump in the pool and diner.
The next day were we at Palermo, it was a rough day with lots of rain and wind so we went ashore for an hour or so to check the city centre and went back to the ship. Nothing better than enjoying this amazing vessel when a lot of passengers are ashore.
Msc Grandiosa took us from Palermo to Valletta. Sailing inbound Valletta give you a nice view of the harbor and city so make sure you are on the top decks to get a good visual. Never been to Valletta before so went to the city centre to discover its beauty and do some New Years Shopping. Back aboard to jump in the pool and have an amazing ice cream at the ice cream shop at the Galleria Grandiosa. Galleria Grandiosa is a great feature from the Theatre to the atrium of the ship. A led light cieling give you amazing images all day long.
MSC Grandiosa is the flagship of MSC Cruises and is brand new, just been sailing for two months now. There is so much to do aboard. And if you want some peace and quite that relax in a bar or at poolside.
The next day we were at sea. The perfect moment to wander around the ship and to enjoy its amenities. NEXT, Barcelona. The capital of Catalonia. We took the shuttle bus to the city centre for some shopping and sightseeing in the city. In the evening we went to the MSC Foundation store to buy some souvenirs and some toys for our girl. Buying from this foundation is supporting good causes.
On our last day we visited Marseille. Because this part of Europe has no secrets anymore we decided to go to the ship again after some shopping in one of the local shopping centers.
Today was the big day, when still at home we booked the Cirque du Soleil show at that was this evening. The show was called excentricks and was a mixture of acrobatics and stunts at high speed. From the first second to the last you were drawn to the stage. Acrobats even came out of the air down to the stage. All was accompanied with music with a dramatic undertone. Great show, do not miss this when you are aboard.
So here we are. At the end of our cruise on MSC Grandiosa. We would like to mention the persons from aboard. Our waiter in the Aurea restaurant and our stateroom attendant. They were both amazing and gave that extra touch on our holiday.
Thank you MSC Cruises.
