Mardi Gras: sea trials begin in Finland

Today the Mardi Gras, the future flagship of Carnival Cruise Line, left for sea trials from the Meyer Werft shipyards in Turku, Finland.

The technical sea trials will last 10 days, after which the ship will return to the shipyards for the final preparations before its definitive departure for the United States where it will begin it career with week-long cruises.

The Mardi Gras is the first ship to use liquefied natural gas in the United States and will begin cruising in February 2021 from its future homeport of Port Canaveral. The ship’s twin, the Carnival Celebration, is also set to be built in the same Meyer Turku shipyard and is slated to be delivered by the end of 2022.

The new flagship of Carnival Cruise Line will be characterized by six distinct zones on board which offer new experiences for food, drinks and entertainment. It will also feature Bolt, the first ever roller coaster on the sea.
