How to get to Stockholm

Many cruise companies include Stockholm as a stopover in their Northern Europe itineraries. Some focus specifically on Scandinavian countries, while others include Stockholm in their Eastern Europe itineraries on the Baltic Sea. Check out the options offered by MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Costa Cruises to find the right one for you.

Celebrity Cruises offers a more luxurious experience, with personalised service and Michelin-starred cuisine, as well as on-board entertainment with ballet, live concerts and games.

Gamla Stan

The oldest district in Stockholm, Gamla Stan is one of the best-preserved medieval city centres in the world. Take a stroll down winding streets with antique shops and art galleries. This is also the district of The Royal Palace, the official residence of the Royal family of Sweden; it is open year-round to the public and offers a variety of cultural experiences, from the magnificence of the baroque style of the building to the medieval exhibits on the inside. If you’re in the area, consider a stop at the Nobel museum, where you’ll meet scientists, freedom fighters, writers and other illustrious figures who contributed to the betterment of humankind.

Drottningholm

A beautiful district to walk through, Drottningholm is characteristic for the presence of the Drottningholm Palace. Previously known as the royal family’s summer palace, it has now become His Majesty’s permanent residence. With its beautiful interiors and magnificent gardens, the Palace is sure to take your breath away.

Right by the palace is Karamellan, a cosy café and restaurant located in a 1880s building. Here you can experience the local cuisine while enjoying the view of the pier that’s right beside it.

When in Stockholm, you will surely bump into the ubiquitous fika– the traditional coffee break, accompanied with delicious pastries – while ABBA fans will be delighted with the ABBA museum, in Djurgården.
